Chaperones
We recognise that intimate examinations by health care professionals (e.g. breasts, genitalia, rectum, or any examination where it is necessary to touch or be close) can be distressing or embarrassing for patients. You can ask for an impartial observer (chaperone) to be present during an intimate examination and we will provide one whenever possible. If it is not possible for us to provider a chaperone at the time we will rearrange your appointment. You are also welcome to bring a friend or relative with you.
If you think you will require a chaperone, please feel free to ask receptionist to arrange this in advance of your appointment. If you prefer to see a doctor of a specific gender to discuss your medical problem, then please advise the receptionist of this when booking your appointment.
