Diabetes Prevention Week: 12th - 18th June 2023
Around 90% of people living with diabetes have Type 2 Diabetes, which is due to both genetic and poor lifestyle factors such as: obesity, physical inactivity, smoking and unhealthy diet.
The good news is that poor lifestyle factors can be modified, and the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) is designed to support and empower people who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes with tailored personalised support and education to prevent diabetes by incorporating: healthy eating, physical activity, stress-reduction, weight management and coping skills into their daily lives.
Visit the Healthier You website for more information about the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, or contact your surgery.
You can also find out your risk of Type 2 Diabetes by simply completing ‘Know Your Risk Score’ which will take only a few minutes here
