Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered via the NHS App or by using Systmonline.  You can also attend the surgery to fill in a request slip. Prescription will not be accepted by phone. Pharmacies can no longer request your medication on your behalf.

If you require a repeat prescription, to prevent you running out, please ensure you order in time allowing 72 hours’ notice (3 working days). The reason for this is due to the large number of requests we get. The doctors have to ensure they are prescribing safely and may need to check your notes before signing.

Medication will not be issued early unless you request for a specific reason e.g. going on holiday Please ensure this is mentioned on your request.

There are some items that the surgery will not issue either as an acute or on repeat. These are items that are generally available as "over the counter" medicines. Please visit the NHS website for further information

We now have a Prescription Team who will help with the above, or any queries from patients, carers, and pharmacies to do with prescriptions and medications.

The call centre/reception will either transfer you to the team or advise you the team will contact you back. You can contact them via email by clicking this link

Requesting medication for an extended holiday

We appreciate that many of our patients have family living abroad and may be travelling for extended periods to visit them. GPs are responsible for monitoring any medication they prescribe, and this is not possible for them to do whilst you are abroad. It is our practice policy that we are able to issue a maximum of two months’ supply of medication (we are only allowed to prescribe a one month supply of controlled drugs such as pregabalin or morphine) and this applies to holidays too.

If your trip is going to be longer than 2 months, you will need to get further medication supplies at your destination, from a doctor there.

Please be aware that we may need to organise up to date blood tests, blood pressure checks or want to review your medication with you before you travel, so please request any medications required for your holiday at least 3 weeks before you travel. We will, of course, try to accommodate medication requests for trips due to family emergencies urgently.

Medication Reviews

Please ensure you attend reviews or fill in the online medication review to enable us to continue to prescribe your medication safely.

We have two pharmacists who work within the surgery they may contact you for reviews.

Please be aware prescriptions may be declined or quantities decreased if your review is overdue.
