Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about the new NHS contract
Is the GP practice closing?
No. The practice is not closing. GP services will continue as normal. The NHS is carrying out a process to decide who will provide services in the future.
Why is a new contract being put in place?
The GP services contract for the practice is due to end on 31 March 2027.
When a contract comes to an end, NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) is required to run a formal process to select the organisation that will provide services in the future.
This process will take place between June and December 2026.
Do I need to re-register or go elsewhere?
No. You will remain registered at this practice. You do not need to take any action.
Will services change?
Services will continue to be provided, and the aim is to ensure high-quality care for all patients. Any changes will be communicated clearly in advance.
Will there be disruption to appointments or care?
No. There are plans in place to ensure there is no disruption to patient care during this process.
When will the new contract start?
The new contract is expected to start on 1 April 2027.
When will a decision be made?
The process is expected to conclude later in 2026, after which the new provider will be announced.
Who will run the practice in future?
This will be decided through the process, and we will share updates as soon as this is confirmed.
What does this mean for staff?
Staff are being kept informed. There are national employment rules that help support staff if the provider changes, and more information will be shared as the process progresses.
Can patients give feedback?
Yes. Patients are encouraged to share their views through:
- A survey available at the practice
- The online survey
Patient feedback will help provide context about experience of services and inform the overall process.
